Bilal ibn Rabah (رضي الله عنه) was one of the most trusted companions of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). Born into slavery, he was among the earliest converts to Islam, enduring tremendous persecution for his faith.
His unwavering belief and the beautiful resonance of his voice led the Prophet (ﷺ) to appoint him as the first official Muezzin — the caller to prayer — in the history of Islam.
His famous cry, "Allahu Akbar", echoed from the rooftop of the Masjid an-Nabawi, uniting the Muslim community. He became the symbol of equality in Islam — a freed enslaved man given the highest honour of calling people to worship.
BeLikeBilal is our mission: to inspire a generation to embody his courage, humility, and devotion to Allah.
Updated in real-time as judging progresses. Only the first two letters of each name are shown.
